Today we will discuss how to get the biggest bang for your time invested in your business. Most would think that selling and recruiting are your best money-making activities. Don’t get me wrong, without these you make no money. But let’s assume you and your team are doing this… hopefully!! But how should you spend your time to get exponential growth instead of growing by addition?
I call it working ON your business versus just working IN your business. When you are selling and recruiting, you are working in your business. That is your day to day activity. Just like you get in your car and drive it, sometimes you need to be working on your engine to make the car run faster and smoother. What will really grow your business is the development of leaders. Your business rises and falls on leadership. Not just you being a leader, but duplicating yourself and creating leaders.
Recruit a bunch… to find the few… who will sign up for masses. Have you heard me say this before? It is crucial. You want to recruit as many people as you can so that the law of large numbers kicks in. You are looking to hand pick the people you feel have the IT FACTOR – those who are ambitious, driven, sharp, coachable and have a burning desire to work hard and succeed big. You want to play ball with the ballers. Everyone else is welcome, but they get your group time on calls and at events. You MUST spend your time with the right people, and pour into them everything you’ve got. You only need a half dozen big leaders for you to become a very top earner. This does not happen by accident. It happens on purpose. You must develop them intentionally. Challenge them, sell them on the bigger vision, help them think bigger, work with them, and develop people under them. Make these few your MIF’s – your Most Important Focus.
From a business activity perspective, one of the things you want to do is groom them into presenters. If they cannot do a presentation at a PBR, PCC, hotel Briefing, SitDown or 3-way call… they won’t be earning a full time income anytime soon. You can’t just remain a follower forever if you plan on being a big earner. Yes, you remain in the system, using the system. But you must someday step up and be a part of the system too. You must be able to present and train at some point. And you must duplicate yourself and create other leaders doing these same things. Again, can you imagine having 10-20 leaders under you who are out there presenting and training even while you are on vacation? THAT is what every network marketer is after. But it often gets lost in the mist of doing IPA (Income Producing Activity) and we forget what our end game is.
Watch the short video above where I discuss this topic for six minutes. My hope is that you course-correct a bit today and start focusing on leadership as much as you might be focusing on making your next sale or recruit.
